We spent our last day in Korea just as we spent our first, in a Korean Love Motel (you can refer to our other post regarding information about love motels). They are a more unique (and cheaper) option in relation to regular hotels. This time we stayed at a place closer to the airport.
Hotel Pop Bupyeong
The name of the hotel was Hotel Pop Bupyeong. As you might be able to garner from the name, it was located in Bupyeong. The area was actually filled with love motels. If something had gone wrong with this one we would have had many more to choose from. It actually seemed like a pretty interesting area.
There was a couple ahead of us who seemed to be trying to shield their identity. Many Koreans are embarrassed to visit these places. After they were done, we showed the desk our reservations.
We went up the elevator to find our room and noticed something we had noticed a couple other places as well: The Koreans’ aversion to the number four. Tetraphobia, or fear of the number four is fairly common in Asia, partly because the word for the number resembles the word for death (in Chinese and Korean).
We arrived to the room and took off our shoes, as is custom. They provide shoes for you to wear further in your room.
This time we knew what to do with the key and how to turn on the lights which made life a bit easier.
I thought our room was pretty neat. I really enjoy the theming of these places.
All in All, Pretty Good
While I do prefer the sink and mirror inside the bathroom, luckily there was a large mirror behind the shower (and isn’t this cute?) I am also not a big fan of see-through-ish bathroom doors but was able to deal for a night. This is a common feature at love motels.
The “Goodybag” provided:
It has pretty much all the other things the other place had in terms of amenities.
We had some crackers and water provided by the place but needed more to eat so went out scavenging. It’s difficult to find vegetarian food in Korea. We ended up going to a Lotteria. Many people enjoy it but I don’t like it. Kyle had a burger and I had fries and a shake and it was the worst shake I ever had.
Lotteria is also obsessed with showing pictures of cheese coming away from the burger. I only took a picture of a comic below our food, but here is an example:
We still enjoyed our last night in Korea, though.
It was sad to leave, but at the same time, we were excited for the next adventure.
