Seoul was a bit farther for us while living in Songtan so we tried to find some closer things to do as well. The AK plaza in Pyeongtaek (a large sort of mall, though the Koreans call it a department store) is one of these such places. It is located at the Pyeongtaek Metro Station. It features a bunch of stuff, but a fun little place to go is the Pyeongtaek Sky Garden.
AK Plaza Pyeongtaek
We visited the AK Plaza a few times. The first time we intended to go to the Sky Garden but it was closed off for some reason. We were still able to get good views of Pyeongtaek on the floor below, though.
We also explored the plaza and got food and then wandered around Pyeongtaek. It’s a pretty nice place.
We went one time to visit the Pyeongtaek Cat Cafe and another time to go to the movies. One of these times we happened to notice that the escalator to the Sky Garden was not closed anymore so up we went to the 10th floor.
Awesome Views
The Sky Garden offers some great views of Pyeongtaek.
It would be a nice place to sit and enjoy the view (maybe a sunset) or to have a picnic. It’s kind of a romantic area.
I am not sure if it is a regular feature but there was a little area with bunnies.
Gotta Love the Duck Sculptures
There are a couple big ducks to sit in but there were a bunch of Koreans in them taking selfies for a long time while we were there.
There were some nice trees and plants which are likely in bloom a different time of the year.
In general, this is a nice little area to check out and can be combined with other activities in Pyeongtaek.
